Description
Xenodream, no pp, PS6 for frame.
Sometimes while working in XD you may have a need for an outline around your objects. Here's one technique to achieve this.
For this i used one of my "heraldic" studies. The original (top) image is nice, but on some places the colours of the main object and background seem to closely matched, which costs us in contrast. That can be helped by an outline. Also, since this image referes to *heraldic* it would be nice to get a graphic outline.
So, once we rendered the top image, we goto "edit", "copy/merge picture", and we choose "new background picture" and click OK.
Return to the lighting panel. Now we need a lighting which gives us an outline of our main object. The best thing is to create them yourself in line with your style of work. But for this image we choose a pre-made one from the lighting presets. Click on the *fox* thumb to open the presets and choose "Art/black acrylic outline". Click OK and render, which will give you the middle image.
Now there's only one thing left to do. From the "merge mode" list, choose "multiply" instead of "normal". We now get the lower image, a merge with a nice outline. Goto "edit", "copy/merge picture", and now choose "overwrite background picture" and click OK. Now save your final picture to disk. It's that simple ;-)
Have fun with your Xenodream !!

You can really see the difference. The very distinct edges of the final image makes it well worth the time spent. Thanks for the interesting lesson!

XD is a great program. and I've used it also for filter on imported images. The mergemode gives a extra possibility. Thanks, RS
