Description

Yesterday we stood at the entrance of the Bächlital, today we have gone a little further by passing the plain on the left side and ascending along the waterfall to the Bächlitalhütte (2328 m, 7760 ft). Looking back from here we see the Bächlis Bach meandering over the muddy plain. It was not ice, salt, sulphur or anything else, but... mud! Thank you for all your reactions! Nature always present new surprises! :) This mud appears to be very fine rubble, as fine as sand on the beach. You can walk on it without sinking away. The mud is deposited by the melt-water of this rivulet originating from the glacier of this valley. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 28 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

It looked like ice. The grey tones of mud are clearer in this one. The colours are excellent in these photos.

another beautiful capture! i would like to take off my boots and socks and feel the mud squish between my toes!!! never experienced glacier mud or glacier milk!
