Just practising alpha maps in Cinema 4D 6. Robot modeled mainly with simple deformers and Boolean subtracting; the head is lofted. The wall texture is a photo. USEFUL comments how to improve the light and other elements of the image welcome. Have a nice day:)
Thanks to rollmops for the "dirty stuff" tutorial [I will use his advices more extensively in the next project] and to aceface041973 for creating "patrol", the work that inspired me to make this image [I love his alpha channels].

most excellent...great character!
Silgrin
Thanks for nice comments... The character is great first of all through the time I had to spend modelling it... It was a perfect lesson of patience. Now I am facing another one, even worse: switching to Blender;)
YARDOBE
Well...don't know the program but this seems to be a good place to try volumetric lighting...to give some meat to that spot/headlight..then we'll talk patience!!!!..oh...great model!

I like the pose and the thought that a bot has "real" emotions... Talking about Blender... I have just downloaded it, but the user interface is very difficult. Do you know how to start? And is it possible to import models from poser [with animation] or other 3D modeling programs as realsoft 3D? But... Nice work! Keep it going!
Silgrin
I will... I just finished the robot and now I plan to animate him. In Maxon Cinema, not in Blender. Regarding the volumetric, light, my Celeron 433 doesn
t allow me to experiment much with this "ultimate performance killer". I tried it, but I lost as much as I gained and finally I decided to leave that poor guy "as is". Such persons don
t like light when at work... ;) Have a nice day.Luka_30
Nice story, and good work.

excellent modelling in Cinema4d. I tried it but it was more than I care to learn. I think your lighting is fine

This is a awesome idea everything meshes so well together.

Beginner gallery? This image and idea is excellent, you must post it in the Cinema Gallery! The texture on the wall is a little low-res, the light is perfect IMHO.
pimbotin
I think you should post more often... I like this kind of pix!

Mikan

you don't give yourself enough credit keep working at it ... about the lighting I am a VUE fan and think you probibly could get better lighting in vue not that u need it this lighting gives it a dark alliy look. I am also a beginer but never think to post in beginer nobody will see it...... must say u have alot of coments. (Never Give Up!)
Silgrin
Huge thanks again:) I
m going to rig him now... in Blender. Let
s see what will happen:)phfrancke
very cool - I envy you your modeling skills. I love his dirty metal texture. You should make the model available for sale or otherwise. I am sure many people would love to use him.
