Description
Well thought I would put up some other shots I got when I went to Swan Lake & Iris Gardens. This is a Mallard Duck (Anas platyrhynchos), and he was just standing their, letting me get really close to get a good shot. Oh to answer the question it is a he, and a bit about them so you know why.The male is very colorful, it has a green head, brown breast, back and wings which also have a blue mirror being a characteristic of ducks. The female is single-colored, brown, and she also has a blue mirror on her wings. Females of almost all ducks wear these protective colors so that they are less visible to the predators at the time of nesting. Its habitat is marshlands, rivers, streams and the sea coast. Hope you enjoy.
