Description

Ok, so yesterday I went by Swan Lake & Iris Gardens and thought I would get some shots. So this is a Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator). Another one that just swam up to me and posed for a shot. Now a little about this one. Trumpeters are the rarest swan in the world. They used to be abundant in North America but by the early 1900s, they were nearly extinct. Huge numbers had been shot for their down, feathers or meat. Increasing settlement disturbed suitable nesting areas. Hope you enjoy.
