Description

Well I built that castle. Here is the first draft of Stronghold. Should I post a copy without the figures in it? That almost allows the imagination more freedom. But the Mil dragon is so cool, and this looked like the kind of castle the Dragon Hoard would inhabit. Bryce, Daz Studio, Photoshop (And no Bryce trees. They have been driving me nuts. The foliage on Bryce trees is great, but the trunk and limbs are sooo digital.)

I love the castle, and I love the both characters in the front of the image. I don't like the light (too green, not anough contrast) I don't like the other characters. IMHO But maybe I'm wrong Remember that I'm a beginner and really unable to do such a beautiful picture ;-)

I understand Selgan's point. I am constantly struggling with the trade off of mood versus clarity and contrast. As I continued to work it this image later took on more clarity without losing all its mood with some use of the curves and levels adustments in Photoshop, but it was a difficult trade off. In this first cut I was really wanting to capture a dark and oppressive feeling to the place. The green fog and haze are part of the mood. This is a land where you wake up and smell the... Dragons Breath! The reason for this image was to make the castle using the Bryce primitives. That was the fun part. And the place seemed to take shape around that. Karineq picked up on the heart of the image. The dragon and dragon people are just decorations, and though they are great models, I didn't build them from scratch, so they aren't as special to me as the castle. Ok, now Im the beginner... just what is IMHO and MMORPG ???

I like the atmosphere...lends perfectly to the approach to an evil territory...excellent! As a former DM this would make a fantastic scenario for a campaign!

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion MMORPG = Might and Magic Online Role Playing Games (I think) I really like that castle, I struggle with the dragon people however. I think this scene would be alot better without the dragon people, but with only the solitary dragon flying overhead (or perhaps a dragon person in the background)

Massive multiplayer online roleplaying game. If you've never seen the artwork on one of these, its well worth a look. Check out Everquest or World of Warcraft. Just the websites I mean, lol.
