Description
Removing over-burden, Stockton Coal Mine, New Zealand. We put our coal mines 2500 ft above sea level, instead of underground, it's easier, maybe not prettier. Extensive replanting when the overburden is replaced on this bleak, scrub covered enviroment, ensures compliance with the greenies.

hope you won't destroy your paradise land by coal mining on mountain peaks!!:)) the picture is excellent in sharpness, detail and mood.

Can imagine mining in this way is working on a level, but the effects of erosion might push the prize.... Excellent shot!

jcv2 - Surprisingly there is no erosion, as all runoff is controlled by a system of settling ponds, consequently the creeks and rivers aren't discoloured. I sound like a PR person for the company, but credit where it is due.

for some peculiar reason i can't explain, i see a kind of beauty in this photo. maybe it's the sharpness and mood fabio pointed at, but i don't know. i have to say though, the sense of scale is very distorted in this image. the dirt-carrying truck looks like a toy-truck, when i know for a fact that those wheels are like 2 times the height of a normal human hehe
