Description
As I was leaving the Santuario de Chimayo, I passed this very old carving of St. Frances, the patron saint of Santa Fe. Images, especially outdoor scuptures, are literally everywhere you go in the areas surrounding the state capitol of New Mexico. He stood nearly four foot tall and was stationed where one really did walk right beside him in order to leave......somehow, that resonated as a delightful fare-the-well for me!!!

Indeed like a farewell gesture :o) A beautiful work this carving! St. Francis is well known here, too!

I thought he had an Uzi at first.

This icon looks a little worn, and that' part of the charm in places like this.
