Interesting. I might try that techique with 3ds max to get my hand a bit more realistic looking. (my texture map isnt as good though).

Very realistic. As with "But but but..." there is a little bit of a plastic look along the brighter highlights. I think, upon closer inspection, that all you're really missing is the fresnel effect: how light "blooms" along the edge of the skin -- noticable when the hand is backlit in darkness. If you were to pull the camera back just a bit, this might remedy that problem. Nevertheless, thanks for the well-lit close-ups. This is really amazing work!
