Description

My first real image after a couple of trial runs after downloading the program a couple of days ago. I nearly chickened out on posting this, the images in the terragen gallery are so awesome, but I'm never gonna learn how to improve if I don't give it a try, so here goes. I know it needs a lot of improvement, so suggestions for improvement would be much appreciated. I'm definitely out of my element and my comfortable fractal gallery, so be kind. :). And thanks for looking, :)Maria

To made bad images with Terragen is not possible... It's a wonderful and excellent landscape renderer! And very fast to learn too! I've used this program years ago. Wish you a lot of fun with this! :-)))

Maria, I don't know anything about "bad or good" or wrong lighting or perspective, but I know what I think is pretty, and this is. VERY pretty. I especially like the reflection on the water. You should have seen my first one. I DID chicken out. Believe me...it WAS a bad image! lol!

I think that this is really pretty good, even better than that. The reflections are great and the mountains look really nice. I know there are all kinds of special effects and techniques in the terragen gallery but this is a very cool looking scene, I think I'll play with my copy tonite!

Very good work with surface layers! If those are 3D clouds - Bravo! (but don't push it) You have a very GOOD concept of what TG does! Welcome to our sector!

A very fine image indeed for only a few days with the program. Watch out though- TG is addictive (at least for me)! I look forward to your next post.

Welcome. I can attest that there is a lot to learn! You are off to a good start. Check the forum for tips from other TG artists. Do a couple of the "How to" exercises sprinkled about the place, including Dotthy's excellent "Beach" tutorial here in ReR. And try to getsome of the effects here in the great TG gallery. And have fun!!!

This is gorgeous, Maria!! I would never have believed this was your first posting of a Terragen image... it's so beautifully crafted! I have Terragen, too... but I use it only for ballast to keep my hard drive from spinning out of control... lol! My husband says, "Wow, that's pretty neat!"... again... high praise, indeed! Spectacular work, m'lady!! :)

Welcome aboard, Maria :) As for the very eraly render this is really good! Nice water, nice sky (good 3D clouds), very nice POV. Now you'll have to experiment with your surfaces mapping a bit. Good work, keep on! And... you know, this terrain is made from fractals, so you're not so away from your area ;)

Great first image. I'm also new to terragen and I'm just blown away by how much there is to learn about it. :) I don't get too much time to work on it because it takes soooo long to get what you want. I found working through the tutorials on the net was the best way for me to get my head around how it works. The hardest thing for me is those darn surface maps and trying to figure out what layer needs to go first. :D

I'm no terragen specialist, but personally I think the image is to light and with some parts of the clouds you could deal in Postwork,I think the composition and pov are great though. I also started with terragen a while ago but only manage to upload 4 images. The fractals maria..you know..LOL. Anyway,a nice first one.
