Description

Spent most of the morning modelling a lighthouse in Bryce. The trick was putting it in a scene. It's a Bryce render. The sky is by Alvin. The forground and distant hills are postwork in Photoshop. Kind of a shame that the house is in darkness, since you can't see any of the detail. Maybe I'll post a daylight version to the forum. Thanks for looking.

Living in Maine, we see quite a few of these and I can tell you you've done a fantastic job! Gotta love Ylaya's sky! A question though; I hope it's not a stupid one: how did you get the glare on the light?

What a beautiful scene. It looks so inviting and peaceful. You just need to add a row boat so that I can fish! ;)

Aye, I think that the lighthouse looks untextured, perhaps due to the lighting? I think if you threw in a few ranged spotlights near it, you might be able to bring out some texture without screwing up the contrast. Great scene, though, I like the layout, it looks very natural.

I like it, although the bottom of the lighthouse looks flat.

Excellent lighthouse and setting! Many of the real-world lighthouses here on the West Coast have a very smooth paint/plaster/stucco over brick appearance, so this looks very prototypical.

Wonderful. Reminds me of many of the lighthouses we have here in Michigan.

I was thinking of lake superior, but maybe a big loch might need a lighthouse too. A smooth stucco one. The silhouette effect is genius. Very well done, phil!
