Description

write what you know all writers receive this advice what if what I know isn't kind, or sweet or endearing what if what I know best is pain, loss, victimization and fear is that all I have to share yes, I know and have known love acceptance, and irreplaceable moments of happiness yet if you envision life as a darkened arena, and embody love, trust. friendship and truth as lit candles How much light is in your arena How many of the candles did you snuff yourself as you grew up, matured and evolved did you snuff the right ones can some old ones be re-lit and still burn write what you know what if I don't really know anything what if I've gone through life without living it what if all the good and the bad remain under my ribs impossibly jumbled together how can I isolate what I want to keep when I seek to clean out and destroy the rest The leaves tell me it's too late for spring-cleaning and yet, here I sit - willingly stagnate here I exist there must be something out there for me something more than this _________________________________________________ I wrote this today while trying to sort through some of my personal issues... The pic is one I took in the summer of 2001. A large stormfront was rolling over Toronto (you can see the CN Tower in the pic). I thought that this could work with the poem since there is so many shades of darkness in the image, and only small portions of light. Much like I think my soul is...

So, yeah, as it turns out, we are only allowed to do one posting per gallery item - I have been informed by site admin that the site has been programmed this way and "it is not a glitch". I have said that we should at least be asked if we really want to replace our previous post.

Certainly 'what we know' is an ever-shifting scenario where [sadly] doubts dominate hopes, and minuses overpower pluses. The important thing is we continue to sift ... much as we pan for gold. There are nuggets ... somewhere. Nicely written indeed.
