Cass, what a gorgeous shot! I've been thinking of using some old scans of drying Autumn leaves for this month's Forum Theme, and this has consolidated that I think. I want to see if I can make some reference to Pascal's Triangle in there as well L. Back to your photo, I'm really taken by the patterns in which the leaves are decaying, and it wouldn't be the same without that flare. Thank you again for sharing your world, I can't quite get my head around the fact that the subject of this image before my eyes is literally the other side of the world, thank god for the internet :-D

Thanks Jim hugs Those leaves aren't in fact dying, but new leaves that have been warped by catapillars eating them (usually nasty ones we call 'Spitfires'). Gum leaves normally appear brilliant red when first growing, or sometimes, as they die off. :)

you have such a great eye for stunning shots, Cassie. hug I just love the play of light and dark upon the leaves, and the little windows it shines through. It is a beautiful compostition, and thanks, as always for sharing it with us.

Now you've explained what we're looking at, Cassie, I can say that I appreciate this pic even more. I'm glad you chose this perspective, so we can see the structure of the leaves clearly. Beautiful but also educational. Thanks as ever...
