Description

or "what the hell ELSE I had go wrong this summer..." project as I have come to call it.

I have been fighting an addiction best summed up by the picture of the bumper sticker from my Jeep's now former stock rear bumper.

Starting in July, I embarked on the daunting task of replacing the front and rear stock bumpers, adding a new stereo and CD changer, installing a custom overhead console between the windshield and roll bar, and in general pushing the warranty limits on my beloved 2003 Wrangler--and doing it all by myself.

Compounding things has been a very busy work schedule that has limited my project time to mostly weekends for the big stuf.

Being a farm kid, I still remember not to grab the fan blades while they are turning and which end of the hammer to use--hammer of course referring to any inanimate object with more mass than the item you are attempting to bend budge, remove without its cooperation.

The TJ project itself has turned into a pushing of the limits--of my sanity.

Little "bumps in the road have included:

The wrong rear bumper;
The front bumper being delayed 6-10 weeks due to redesign issues that the vendor failed to share with me until FOUR WEEKS after I ordered it;
Missing mounting bolts;
Breaking bolts with no spares included;
Parts not fitting etc.

So far I have only managed to install the CORRECT rear bumper, spare tire carrier (after drilling and sanding and hammering that was NOT included in the SUCKY instructions) and get the third brake light rerouted and rewired (with no help from the vendor--they usually didn't put them back on so I figured this one out on my own (he bows))...
More of those pictures later and I'll bore you more detailed horror stories as well.
In the meantime, my copy of the Lightwave 8 upgrade, newly acquired via eBay, sits forlornly staring at me feeling unloved.
Once I get the bumpers done, I promise I'll take care of it as well.
I can live with the stock radio for now, I have to design the console yet and build the cool kit gadgets (literally) that will be installed in it, and in general I need a BREAK from the TJ project before I kill a small furry creature.
TIA for looking and letting me ramble ;')

Masochist! Too much for me. Also Lucky - to have bought software from EBAY and actually having received what you though it was; or most likely is not receiving softwear at all. I have filed 7 complaints to manufacturers and Police departments since Aug 1st. Now there are few makers that permit resale of their product on EBAY. Good luck & keep bandages handy...

Quadratech. I've had good luck with most of that stuff. Remember this rule: if it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed fixing anyway.

Have had one bad experience on eBay so far. Guy sold me the Chrysler Service manual for the Jeep--he shipped me a CD (MINUS the forward) and obviously he burned a copy of the original service manual. I'm sure Chrysler will take a dim view of that... Yep, Quadratec is who I have been going through. The rear bumper is from Olympic 4X4; the front from Go There Engineering, and the base overhead console from Tuffy. and there has been some creative "forcing" going on. ;')

Thx; Plot thickens... I just got a letter from the company providing the fornt bumper. They are currently filling a lawsuit agains the FORMER manufacturer. Supposedly, the mfg is now trying to sell their bumper design under the mfg label.
