Description

Yes, he is still alive...
The front bumper FINALLY arrived two weeks ago (I paid for it in August). So today, I had my work caught up enough to allocate time to install it.
Since the bumper weighed in at about 100 lbs, David came over and helped me mount it. Driver side holes didn't want to line up for the bolts, but a six whacks with the sledehammer and everything fit smoothly (technician's fix (LOL))
Approximately eight hours today total, mainly because we had to move and rewire the factory fog lights. I had some leftover brackets that came in with the rear bumper (minus any instructions as to their purpose) so they actually worked well as mounting brackets for the fog lights.
The manufacturer also did not include a front license plate bracket or predrill for a front license plate, so I fabricated one using a Honda front bracket I picked up on eBay.
If I get around to adding a winch, I'll have to move the lights (they are mounted in the winch well) and redo the license bracket since it bolts into the winch hook opening.
I promise to get back submitting the 3D stuff soon!
Oh, look for two of my renders in PowerCell Game's latest release of their Starship Sim (coming soon)!

Does that extra weight up front make it a little more squirrely at high speed?

Going from the stock bumper, which weighed in at about 50 lbs (basically 1/8" rolled steel), when I took it out on the road this morning to get fuel, I did notice a little more roll to the vehicle. It seems to settle down a bit and level out at road speed than before though. I also have to adjust to the fact the brushguard sticks out on both sides a could of more inches than before. ;') A buddy e-mailed me wondering about the increased load on the front end, but I figure with the extra duty springs from the 3" lift kit, it should be okay. I'm going to be watching the fuel economy as well to see if that changes things. Believe it or not, this bumper is more aerodynamic and once I cover up the winch well (for now, I'm going to bolt 1/4" Lexan over it), I'm hoping to offset some I lost with the mudflaps I had to add (Seattle cop "requested" I put them on)...
