Description

A touch-up/remake of a scene I made about the same time last year. I kind of liked it, and added some new leaves and variety to the picture. The leaves are modelled as terrains based on scanned images for picture maps. The textures control the rest of the appearance through transparency clipping and bumps. It is VERY awkward to work with this in Vue 4 (maybe one reason why we don't see this kind of stuff so much) so the basic terrain modelling etc. was made in Bryce 5. Yes, it still has something to offer :) Texture mapping was done in Vue. Vue 4, Bryce 5, Photoshop CS. 15 mio. polygons, 3 lights. Rendertime approx. 1.5 hrs in "Ultra". Hope you like this, thanks for your comments on my last picture. Comments on this one also very much appreciated. Have a nice Sunday. - Lars

This update is a real beauty.. I know what you mean with the mappings :)) (but then terrains are real good for organic forms.. it is worth the patience!) Compliments on this!

Most excellent Lars! I am glad to hear that other find terrain work such as this difficult in Vue. I have been doing some experiments lately myself. The parametric setting in Byrce for applying textures is hard for me to duplicate in Vue especially on a asymetrical terrain. This work inspires further effort. Vote!

An excellent idea (i remember it from last year as well) and a superb exectution. I can imagine how difficult it is to position the textures correctly. You did it very very well. A great image!

Yes Lars, as a Brycer myself, I find it so very difficult to apply "parametric" textures to terrains in Vue, so hats off to what you have realizes here !!! Love that grass between the 2 borderstones !!! Vote.

I didn't try things like that myself yet, but I imagine they are tremendously difficult to achieve. Very good job you did with this one!
