Description

He personified Superman when I was young and impressionable Posters on my wall and on my ceiling Filling me with new, exciting feelings I watched him on TV -in films and interviews respecting him for being true blue His accident and subsequent fate made me gasp and made me cry but he never stopped believing in himself was always willing to try He was a role model An actor A human being An ideal A celebrity who seemed approachable and real So goodbye Christopher Reeve Superman is dead bright blessings on your journey for all the things that lay ahead _________________________________________________ I got back from the bar tonight (from partying for my bday) and learned that Christopher Reeve had died and it made me cry. I still love the movie, "Superman" and Christopher Reeve will always embody that character for me. I also admired the way he carried on after his accident, working so hard to accomplish what he could and continuing to act and it makes me sad that he has died. **NOTE: I found this image on the internet, off of a friends LJ and EDITed this since I've been given the heads up that the image is copyrighted by Daniel Murray, whom I hope doesn't mind me using it in this tribute. **

Isn't it strange? All the terrible things going on in the world, but seeing the news this morning choked me on such a personal level - as he said in his autobiography, he never wanted the challenge of championing the rights of people who live with paralysis; but he rose to it anyway, and bothered to make a difference. Chris, you'll be sorely missed.

I coudnt believe it when i read it. I didnt know either that he pass away today. Its unbeliable. I remember beign 5 years old and falling in love with superman. Literally falling in love, i will say that after Bruce Lee, he was my second platonic love. When he was injured i though that the spirit of superman, was going to make him walk again. Somehow, he represented superman, no one like him to surpass this acciddent. But i didnt happen. Not too long ago i saw that on this new episode with the superman young on tv, he was going to be on one of the episodes. I didnt see it, but i though about it as a goodbye. He was not well, you were able to tell. He will always be my superman.

This is the first I've heard of his death. I didn't know. Oh man. I think Superman was one of the first movies (that wasn't Disney) that I went to see in the theater. I think the picture is actually a post here on Renderosity. Its used here too. He credits Daniel Murray -http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=305512

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! (props always a good thing)....this was the first thing I heard this early morning (5am) when I turned the radio on. My first thought was of his courage, how he rose above his limitations in Spirit, if not in body. His desire to walk was palpable....it was as if any moment he would raise his arm and do that pirouette into the sky. The movie I most remember him for, it struck a chord in me, was 'A Place In Time'. As for the crushes we had....was he not the Master of the ultimate foreplay, that swooping sky diving scene with Lois Lane....I don't think THAT can ever be attained. ;) Safe Home Christopher/Clark/Superman....strains of 'I love you Superman...man.........

Wow, I didn't know he had died (I don't watch the news much). I guess there goes my dreams of meeting the man. He was one of my friends inspirations. My friend is in a wheel chair with Cerebal Palsy, but he wanted to learn karate without any of the handicapped stepstools. He is now a black belt, and can get up out of his wheelchair and do jumping jacks (not quite pretty to see, but he can still do it). I'm not sure if he's heard the news yet.

He proved in so many unimaginable ways that he really was a noble Superman, on and off the silver screen....

he made us believe that a man can fly. And I believed him.

You know, there are a lot of great comments on this image, but I have to agree the most with twosheds. Every day on the news people die in battle in various places in the world, but Christopher Reeve's battle lasted for years, and his inspiration lives on. You're right, samsanca, Chris Reeve made us believe that a man can fly. Do you know what? I think he DID.

Yes, Superman is dead, along with a few more of our precious fantasies. Reeves fought a tough battle with amazing courage and strength. In the end he was loved. And many cried. CC

mrscience: ditto! romanceworks: I agree and I know I cried. I watched some show interviewing Robin Williams about the death of his best friend, and Robin said he knew Chris was flying now...

Having watched Robin speak about Christopher, how they were early stage actors together, how they called each other Brother ever since the early days, it let's you know how special the man was. Reeves fought the good fight. I can't say that he lost. He won by passing on his inspiration to us all!
