Description

We payed for a guided tour inside the castle. And can you imagine what I felt when hearing that it is FORBIDDEN to take pfotos!? hm...so I waited until our guide and all persons were gone into another room, turned around and *click*!!! I had to hurry and there was no chance to test the shot or the light, and there was no time for a second shot! This breathtaking designed and splendid State Staircase Hall is the first you see when entering. Marble statues of Roman gods and goddesses include Apollo, Diana, Minerva, Ceres and Flora. Wall paintings show young girls rejoicing and throwing flowers in honour of the King's arrival. Unlike the original at Versailles, this Staircase features an iron and glass ceiling, which gives the huge room a light and airy feeling. Dimension: 29.95m x 11.95m = 357.90m

Agrees with Ladyhawk I never understood why you couldn't use flash in certain areas of castles and art museums and the like. I've been to few castles here in California and they tell you NO flash or not pictures at all. But when I found out the reason it made sense. HOWEVER, I am so glad you got guts!!!!!!!! What a wonderful PICTURE!!That is just tooooo amazing!! I wish I could see more of this wonderful castle!! Thank you for sharing it with us.

you caught the opulence perfectly!! what a setting! the risks a photographer will take to get a shot, although there looks to be plenty of light here, so you probably didn't use a flash... no fun having security guards chase you... i know ;]

Impressive shot, point and shoot and than hide the cam! LOL! The thrill of photography! But indeed, flash can be bad for the artistic work there, but the power of photography is stronger! :) Excellent work, Rita!

Wow. Excellent. I have been there once but never wen't inside We were told that most of the stuff got stolen during times like the World Wars and the Revolution so there wouldn't be that much worth seeing. Well you proved them wrong. Thanks for not obeying the rules ;-)

how very elegant - you have chosen a great amount of detail to give a big overview - good combination of colours and different shapes - wonderful!!
