Description

Here is an image of a dutch island town of Schouwen-duiveland but I wanted to use C4's new terrains so I added the mountains. So this scenic image is not really accurate to the town, but hopefully is interesting. On a vue forum thread it was alluded that Carrara could not handle large scenes very well. So I decided to try a larger scene than I would normally do to see how it would go.C4 handled this scene very nicely. I also used the beta of the new plugin Architools to model most of the buildings. It allowed me to quickly model the village and model a large scene alot quicker than normal. This was modeled entirely in C4 with the exception of the Cars and the barge on the right which I modeled previously in carrara. I still have things to fix but I liked how it turned out. Hope you like it. Made a small lighting change, also changed the foreground tree a bit.

Excellent scene. The use of the mountains really work IMO.

It greatly improves the decision of wheteher to do it all in the same scale and deal with the low ceiling limits or whether to do the mountains in scale and bring them up close sacrificing the positional choice for a one line of sight position to constrain the "size." With a "real" sky even the background/backdrop does not fix the line of sight and masking. All in all a good move up.

This is very impressive in terms of C4's capabilities (not to mention your own, Mike!). Could you post an Assembly Room view in the forum? I'd be very interested if this isn't too much to ask. There's a great feeling of depth here; all in all a lovely image.

Nice scene with GOOD boats! Nice composition and detail. When the residents of Schouwen-duiveland see this I'm sure they will go out an get some mountains! Hope I'll be playing with C4 soon......

I think there are actually 'dunes' near these towns, but they are much more boring than mountains. I like your choice of subjects! I think some 'dirt' texturing would increase the richness of the picture. This time I think the color of the water is a little off. But this is great, inspirational work!

Thanks for all the comments , if I add to the scene(I was thinking of adding people) I will try some of the changes you have suggested.

WOW. Great modeling...and the sky looks great too. Looks much better than c3 skys. I'm looking forward to C4. Thanks for posting this Mike.

Quite impressive as for Carrara - maybe you should render it with radiosity ? Without it there is too much ambient light in shadows - it washes up colors. It reminds me the scenes from deevee - he loves sailboats :-)) I think you make a great job in Carrara that deserves an excellent rank and a VOTE !
