What is this that imprisons me?
Depression, agony....
A hopeless soul filled with anguish
Time's cruel seduction of possibilities smothered by cold, hard facts.
Outright mental chaos
A roller coaster ride of moods not safe, even for the strong of heart.
Slow decline of what few wits remain
Strings of coherent thoughts brought to a grinding stop by sudden confusion.
Lost love, the universe's practical joke
Consumed by a sweet, loving desire I foolishly hoped to keep.
The downward spiral to uselessness
Powerless to tame the growing inabilities meant to condemn my future.
Pain that seems to never end
Ceaseless suffering, denies some semblance of a normal life over and over again.
Deprived of an unknown past
Memories, designed to give meaning and life, as lost to the world as I am.
What is this that imprisons me?
Chains.... I long to be unchained.

Best line: "Deprived of an unknown past Memories, designed to give meaning and life, as lost to the world as I am." However, I think you mean "binds" instead of "bounds" in both places in the poem. Hope this helps :)

Excellent expression of feelings that I can personally relate to. Especially this one line: "Times cruel seduction of possibilities smothered by cold, hard facts." A very powerful statement that touched me deeply. The smothering, the undeniability causes the greatest pain I think. Vote.

Forgive me if I misread this, but the meaning, or emotion I got from this piece, is one I truely relate to... The chaotic flow of life that chains us down from who we really are, and want to be, can condemn our growth into the future.
