Description

Terragen, Irfanview, PSP I was a bit bummed out about my last image, I learned the hard way what y'all have meant by tiling. But I'm over that now and ready to try it again. Thanks for your valuable feedback, it's the only way I can improve... :) Here's my first try at strata. I made a few of my own but couldn't use them. Please, how does one correct the awful blue cast on 'homemade' strata maps?? Now if I can only learn how to subdue the strata effect and have it not so bold...:) Tried to get some real color in the water, but it's nothing like I have seen done here. How do you do that? Thanks very much for looking... :)Maria

Maria, you have so many questions! I know how badly you want to make even better tg images, but patience! ;) We all struggle with stuff, usually one at a time. I bite off one subject, then. The water. This is just fine water color, except the sky is very blue. Rids once commented to me (correctly) that the sky and water should be similar because the water reflects the sky color. (This works most of the time, but not all) Actually, the default deep color would fit fine here. Also, the surfaces under the shallow water tend to show through and highlight only the upper water color, so beware of what is underwater, unless you want it to show through (see my last work - "Landscape in D minor") Nice lighting and great strata, btw.

The water is so beautiful, Maria, and I think the strata looks great. I like the fantasy feel of the terrain, and the sand texture is great.

To make the strata softer, you can add sopme fine defracted layer over it, it works. Nice image, the water seems ok to me. Keep up the good work.

oh wow I do love the water and beach area wonderful colors and shape the strata is certainly better then most I've seen yet as you said needs improvement as for the atmo it is also just gorgeous I've not heard of the water and sky having to be the same for sure Rids has suggested a lot certainly that not being one of them it may depend on the scene itself. Then again as an artist you know everyone has a different opinion wonderful over all Maria and like it was mention be patient it will all comes together ** :)

I like this shot, Maria. I have been working, occasionally, with TERRAGEN for years now, and most of my shots are sunsets over a headland. None of them is special. I have never really tried anything other than the basics, but since you are willing to learn and try new techniques, I am sure that soon you will be showing us all what to do.

I'm short in time, Maria. The terrain looks too small (edges) and I agree with Eoin. Esp. the shoreline is very good! Keep them coming! :-)

I think the beach, sky and water look very realistic. Maybe instead of feeling negative about the strata, you should keep a file for more "abstract" image placement later. I think it looks cool myself- but I like stuff slightly "outside the box" sometimes. LOL. Don't push yourself; let it happen. The fun is in the creation.
