Description
The Shwedagon Paya has a mystical past. However, under the king Anawratha in the 11th century it assumed significance. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. The present gold gilded stupa rising to 98m and the courtyard surrounding it are indeed impressive.

Sureh! Wow, this is a spectacular image that really makes you feel you are there. It looks so good here in its full size.
