Description

Since everybody seems to have difficulties in understanding that my image Chris it is not photo, I'll post here some of the stages I've saved while I was working on it. No photos were used in the postwork, this is all poser and handpainting. There are ppl here who asked me to make a tutorial, well 6 years of Art Academy and a lifetime of drawing, love for all forms of art and patience- this is my tutorial !

This is an absolutely incredible piece of work. After all the "controversy" I did go to the photo and compared the two. There are enough difference (shape of eyes, shape of eyebrows, shape of nose, shape of lips and even the tilt of the head), that I, for one, feel this is just an excellent piece of Poser work. I can only aspire to come close to this one day. Thanks for showing us the steps. Great work!

geesh :( Now is ridiculous we have also to show a step-by-step image because someone should be in doubt. I have seen your image in the hot 20 and felt real impressed from your ability... would wish to be 1/3 of what you are! This is such an incredible, amazing work.... I hope to see many more from you, because is real pleasant! Thanks!

Two words to settle if this is a photograph or not: BURT MONROY. Do a search and then come back here.

I believed you without these ! And you are right .. patience and talent and hard work are the things leading to outstanding work like this. These days people tend to have the idea the software will do it for them !

@Addy and Chris: Don't allow yourselves to be pulled into this. Art is art, and the love of art produced the image...a lot of hard work and loving care. Let the disbelievers think what they will...as you said, time will tell. Love your photography, love your art...and your time in studies and practice show through it all. My sincere congratulations on an image masterfully executed.

Its funny how the negative so-called artists (Art of Victor, bacon_midget, ShowNTell) either have one or no images at all in their gallery, so they wouldn't know art if it kicked them in their keester. Addy you haven't anything to prove to anyone. You create beautiful art and if people are doubtful, that is their problem!! You continue to stay talented and blessed in everything you do!! Excellent work!!

Addy, do not let doubting thomas's affect your work- you gave them proof and now they still want a reason to whine-- seems like sour grapes. I agree with Vali- this is about art..and you do a very good job with it-- keep your head up, and keep up the excellent work! It truly is a wonderful image!

It's so perfect that I had a doubt and thought it was a photo. I was wrong and full of admiration for your work. Bravo.

Hi Addy - thanks so much for posting this 'tutorial'. Sadly, even with this, there's no way I could ever do something this wonderful...well, not now anyway - maybe in a few years with TONS of practice! I guess I was hoping for a "here, anyone can do this" type of tutorial, but alas, what you do takes years of practice and, obviously, a super fine eye for detail! Oh well, at least I can view your art and dream about the day when I can do something like this...if ever! LOL Thanks again! Hugz

We will all form our own opinions on different things, some positive, some negative, but the fact of the matter is, posting comments here is meant to be helpful or constructive, not flames and accusations. Enjoy the work put into the image, whatever that may have been, and move on. ADDY: I do not have Poser, though it is a dream to someday have it. I do, however, frequently do photographic manipulations, and postwork work with PS and other programs, so I can more than appreciate the finishing work you have done. I look foreward to seeing more of your work.

It seems that just because some people can't create something like this, it angers them that you can. You know how I feel about your images. I hope you keep posting-you're amazing!! Excellent!

I'm just curious as to why you chose to change the nose three times? You re-painted in the brows from image 1 to image 3 and the nose from image 1 to image 3 changes in each one. The ear really gets me - because most people forget to touch up the ear inpostwork. So since you basicaly had to re-create Michael and you have teh skill (and art traingin) to do so, why use poser at all?

on the piece.Bravo. excellent work..period. now on to the apparent controversy. As to the poser whore comment .yes great maturity was shown there. then again as it was stated those slamming have little to nothing to show for their apparent massive experience into the world of creating a piece.~clears throat~ what more is needed? perhaps as it was stated a live feed? or would you then claim that is false as well? This is sad. I am all for giving critism in the name of improvement but bashing because you just have nothing better to do is just sad. Try your hand at the step by step...or is it that you lack the ability so you bash the artist? GUH...This is great work. please PLEASE do not let them put you down.

Ohh yeek my post came out looking horride and non readable. I was trying to say fantastic job on it. I just believe you used some compositing to create the image over the Michael character. Lovely work really. Mark

You know I haven't posted a comment in an age now...but in this case I feel I must. I teach art...as it is what I love...and even though I myself am not NEAR this good...I do have an eye for it. Anyone who wants to sit and judge and say it wasn't painted...feel free to IM me and I will prove it is. I don't know either of these people so I have no reason to lie...but to the trained eye you can actually SEE the strokes. The hair was SEAMLESSLY painted but it WAS painted...the mouth also...or atleast the fine detail...all of it is INCREDIBLY detailed and EXCELLENT and PERFECT in technique. Just because your like me and can't do this...DOES not mean she didn't! Trust me I sat here and compared it and there are many many differences between the photo and this...all minute and easy to miss unless you give yourself a headache studying it LOL...non of which could possibly be from an overlay of any sort.....as I said...I will be happy TO SHOW all the strokes...changes in pressure...and differences to anyone in doubt. It is a shame that petty jealousy and envy always rare their heads in this gallery and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! This is masterfully done...and intelligently done...just an INCREDIBLE JOB on it!!!!! And I agree....a tutorial would be lovely :O) Even teachers can use some help LOL :O) EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! VOTE :O)

hmm.. i guess i'm simply confused... i don't seem to understand why it seems so important to people whether you did or didn't use a photo, and why it can't just be accepted for what it is... i can understand a request for a tutorial, but not as a means to "prove" yourself, but more as what tutorials are for - learning tools... it's saddens me that what i'm guessing was something you were excited about posting has somehow turned into a wholly unnecessary drama which must rob, or at least detract a little, from your excitement... personally, i am really digging the fact that you love those eyes of his and how he smiles at you [things made obvious by how you've shown them off in your image :))]

Thanks for the tutorial, we always learn so much from each other's techniques :-) You are very talented and you don't have to prove anything to anybody. This is an excellent portrait - your baby is very handsome :-)

I'm sorry but people without gallery's or any provable talent should not be throwing stones where they do not belong! I'm so sorry there are so many people without eyes to see. Sirocco is right - you have nothing to prove! This belongs in the Hot 20 - on the top - where it truely belongs!!! VOTE-VOTE-VOTE
