Description
The American Bald Eagle is expected to be removed from the Endangered Species list! In the 1960s and 1970s, DDT and other pesticides were used with abandon. These pesticides moved up the food chain and accumulated in the prey of the Bald Eagle. The presence of these pesticides effected the fertility of the Eagle's eggs resulting in near extinction!
I posted this image to highlight the Eagle's eyes. The first shot shows the Nictitating Membrane that is responsible for removing debris from the cornea.
