Description

We've gained some hundreds of meters height already. How do you feel? The dry air seems to give me strength. I don't feel tired. Do you? Acclimatization is necessary when you come from the lowlands like I do (where I live in the Netherlands it's only 18 meters, 59 feet, above sea-level). The thinner air high in the mountains contains fewer oxygen. The body compensates this making more red blood corpuscles. This takes some time and we call that acclimatization. On this altitude, about 1500 meters (5000 ft), we get a better vista on the landscape. We can see the high snowy mountains of the Bernese Oberland, like Finsteraarhorn (left), Lauteraarhorn, Eiger and Mönch (right). Do you see that little building there on the left hand? That's the Harder Kulm (1322 m, 4337 ft). The weather is great, nothing to worry about. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 45 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

I'm keeping up, but I want to take a look at the view from the Harder Kulm, it looks a great place to be! So pleased you put the link in, at least I got a peep! I've experienced getting acclimatised, I worked in Vail, Colorado, and remember getting out of breath when I first arrived!

I've experienced getting acclimatised too, in Montana, when I went crystal digging. We all had to stop and catch our breath many times. Beautiful capture Jan-Carl, I'm happy to be taking this trip with you!! ;)

My lungs are not great ( even if I do not smoke ) but I can just draw in a lungfull of the clear, cool air here, Jan-Carel. I do not feel out of breath at all, but I think I will put on my sunglasses. If you do not mind, I will rest here until your next shot is unveiled. Thanks.
