Description

Cheated a bit with this. Downloaded world machine last night and had a play around, came up with this terrain. Dabbled with camera height, shadows and lighting effects to try bring out the terracing, and created the surface texture. Not sure where the black bits came from! Once again huge big thanks for all the invaluable advice on my previous images they have been so much help. Any hints tips for improving are welcomed.:) Karen

Very intereting terrain and your surface layers and colors are good. For me, I'd like it if the camera weren't quite so close, and maybe tilt it up slightly to show a sliver of sky? Good work here, and the black bits are Terragen pepper(!).

Another good effort, Karen. Artgum is right, when he suggests a wee bit of sky. Right up close the terrain often has too many straight edges, so it is better to be looking at a slight angle, upwards. As for the black, any textures I mix, all seem to be wishy-washy, or stark. So I cheat too and use other folks' or freely available ones. You are certainly prolific, in your Terragen output, and not easily scared of trying something new. Using another program, such as World Machine is great. I have only downloaded it. I seem to have little time to render these days, unfortunately.

Agree with artgum and jgkane, but nonetheless you have the beginnings of making great surfaces!
