Description
I finally 'completed' this painting for Matt last night, although I'm really not happy with the perspective on the Golden Temple, its about as done as its ever going to be.
The title has nothing to do with Final Fantasy's Aki, but is the Japanese word for Autumn.
Watercolour on canvas - original size 18 x 18".

Glad to see I'm one of the first to comment this time! Dear Cassie, I see all kinds of similar imagery around me daily on Japanese TV and manga comic books. Yours is quite different from the things I see here. Yours seems to have cultural distance which gives it a unique persepective, and a certain charm. Love the reflection of the temple, btw. It would be interesting to hear what Japanese people make of it. Thanks as always!

Oh man Cass, that's one hell of a richness in those colours! I assume you've built them up in subtle layers to achieve that. This is just magical and I know Matt will love it beyond a doubt! You've also made interesting use of wet-on-wet blotches in the sky, to me this "ages" it and yet in such a way that none of the intensity of the colouring is lost, quite the opposite in fact! Another triumph from the master hugs, thank you so much for sharing this, now I know where you've been the last couple of nights ;-D

I love the golden tones of the temple, to me it's what makes this work stand out, as well as the way his cloak becomes the lanscape. I can only marvel at the way great skill you have painting reflections and semi-transparent things in water colour. It is a joy to see this work completed. hug

I can only say: WOW! Maybe some more words...:-) WOW the colors, and tones! Wow the composition! WOWWOWWOW! There is everything that's needed for a master work - the atmosphere, the dynamics, the ability to evoke deep emotions - and such a joy for eye! I loved the wip, this one I LOVE, I adore, it takes to so many different areas of my heart... Thank you so much, dear Cassie :-)

All I can say is that it would be an inspiring thing indeed to be able to watch you work Cassie. To see a creation such as this unfold before my eyes would be a memorable event to say the least. Phenomenal work as always dear friend.

I also love the golden hue you've captured in the Temple - it's amazing to think it was done in watercolour! The crisp lines are a wonderful counterpoint to Aki's flowing form and hair. I love his intent expression and how he seems to blend into the scene. The fallen leaves are a beautiful touch. I bet Matt loves ithugs
