Description

...or so it was thought '-)! Though the story goes that Wal-Mart opened in Arkansas in the 1940's, the origins go much further back. Ezekiel Walton, Sam's great-great-great-grandfather actually renovated a U.S.Army fort located in what is now Ogden, Utah back in the early 1800's and turned it into a big-box general store...the first of it's kind! Ezekiel's master plans included catering to both the influx of Easterners as well as the Native Americans already making their home throughout the area. But, even with the foresight to have such amenities as expanded access roads and parking areas for all modes of transportation, Ezekiel was, unfortunately, blind to the ill-will and animosity that still prevailed amongst his projected clientele. Fatalities from both sides soon outnumbered register receipts and this location was soon razed and sold to the U.S. Government when the Intercontinental Railway was being built. Well? Maybe not! But I needed some sort of story-line here! LOL! Canoes, coach, and chuckwagon by faveral, zippy's fort, bldgs barely visible '-)@coa to top left from RDNA, renapd's MountainMan for M3, some plants by Laurent, and the usual DAZ donations...ahem, purchases'-)! I knew your were an historian with the greatest knowledge in the obscure origins of events -you produced already many rare documents- I'd only point out that you omitted to say Ezechiel married Philomena Martini (daughter of Earl Martini )hence the name of the popular store .. but this is a trifle.. Looks like you upgraded the lens of the time-machine camera the image is superb!

You are the master of historical moods. So wonderful. I haven't thought about that the Waltons have started this multi-Multi. But not a surprise really, with the money from the TV soap at that time they could do everything i guess. Brilliant Steve, and thanks for the information!

This is excellent, Steve; you've really done a wonderful historical picture here, and I enjoyed the story too! I like the subdued tones, makes it feel kind of dusty and far away.
