Description

In response to the RR friend that spanked me for not posting more frequently. This is one I shot recently but hesitated to post because I felt it a bit "stiff". It's a few things reminding me of fall that I arranged on my late Grandfather's (mother's side) desk. As kids in Ohio we would shuck field corn for "corning" at halloween (I assume you all know what that is). Should probably have included a bar of soap to cover "soaping" the windows of those that didn't treat. The slightly garish stein I picked up during Octoberfest in Germany. In Ohio Pumpkins, gourds and fall flowers abound and around this time of year my Grandfather (father's side) would make apple butter outside in a HUGE cauldron with a crackling wood fire beneath it. I can still smell the leaves we burned and the brisk fall air. Thanks for viewing. --- 0 ---- Robert, I hope you like this one.

awww lovely still and full of your childhood memories.. its wonderful to see how other places celebrate autumn...as british halloween still isnt a big thing over here even tho getting more popular... so this is a beautiful insight.. excellent p'graphy and compo... well done.. its far from stiff.. its nostalic full of a glorious mood..:)

Thought I saw the candles flicker, must be my tired eyes. Everything is nicely placed on that beautiful desk. Nothing "stiff" about this photo. Excellent work.

I would love to have that desk my its a beautiful antique and love the gnarled walking cane This is a beautiful shot and I am adding it to my favs And Sheila is my kindred sis, and yes we both live in KY & we have chatted on the phone she is a sweeeheart of a sis Bravos on this one it get my Vote:) Hugs Susan~

huge smiles!!!!! Jim, I never "spanked" you!!! I just told I missed seeing your work! you are such a gifted photographer and this shot shows off your fine eye for composition and lighting!!! I so much enjoy your narrative about this image...ah...corn shucking and apple butter...oh man...why'd ya have to mention the apple butter??? someone pass me a hot biscuit! And oh yeah...burning of the leaves, crackling fire....sigh...I'm enjoying some wonderful memories now and I thank you for that! This photo doesn't feel stiff at all to me...feels quite warm actually! And I'm sure Robert would LOVE it! Yes, Susan is my Ky. soul sister!!! She's such a sweetie and i enjoy talking to her!!
