I've been a member of Renderosity since March 2001, although mostly under a different name (Ainle). The image you see here is a digital approximation of me, based on Michael 2 with Catharina Harder's Mario texture. I'm actually a little bit older and darker-haired (not counting the white that's creeping in everywhere).BIOI'm a transplanted Canadian living in Texas since 1983. I am currently a Senior Consultant for a small technology training and consulting firm; however, 3D rendering remains my passion and my distraction. Most of my work has been a combination of Poser and Vue d'Esprit, with an occasional bit of Amapi thrown in for good measure, but I've now switched to Cinema 4D as my main modeling/texturing/rendering platform. I find I'm influenced most by the cover art of all the fantasy and scifi novels I used to read, but I'm still trying out new tricks...

I love it! That looks like it should be a poster in a class room somewhere.

It's fantastic. I like it a lot. One slight thing though, I think Hawking's book is titled 'A Brief History of Time'. It's a very cute robot.

very very nice concept and nicely done-would be good just to add a tiny bit more detail of the robot face, for some connection with the viewer(us) but great job all round

A really nice piece of work. You may have found your niche.

fantastic. i'd say play with your typesetting a bit. doesn't do anything for the composition the way it is. IMHO, i'd say the header is reptitive. Quote says it all. I guess i'd remove the header, reduce the size of the quote, and let that illustration say a thousand words. finally, i'd do a lot more with the textures on the books. Add some jacket illustrations. I'd buy that poster in a heartbeat. great job.

I agree, it's a fantastic idea and a little work on the book jackets would make it perfect.

Actually I don't think the above commentors "read" what you said about this being a "motivational" poster as they generally do have huge headers draw your attention to a certain word that is the focus of the entire piece.I have a huge book collection and none,I repeat none, have any book covers or illustrations as those come off as soon as I get them home...only people who read paperbacks need a picture on the cover to buy and the picture on the cover is often used as the sales lead in (so that people who don't read as much will buy for a purty picture lol)~buy the book to read, not to collect a pretty album sleeve. This is how books look without sleeves and this m'man is a marvelous image that should be submitted to the National Board of Education.

Wow, real feedback and critiques; that's not something you see every day. Good catch on the title of Hawkings' book, markdavid; I should have double-checked my faulty memory. I've updated the image to correct that. I appreciate the debate about the layout. If I ever get the gumption to actually publish these somewhere, I'll factor all that in. 'Beast correctly points out that these kinds of posters usually have a big bold title with the subject of the quote, and, if nothing else, I wanted to be consistent with the previous images in this series. As for the books themselves, they're meant to look like volumes from a library of classics, hence the fairly austere coveres. Some of the color combinations are pretty painful on the eyes, I'll admit; they were assigned fairly randomly, and that's something else I'd clean up on a "new and improved" version. Thanks all for the comments!
