Description
"I wondered what this would do" - now we BOTH know...
I bought a $1 "White/Blue" Glow stick at the local dollar store, and carefully cut the top off, pouring out the liquid into a test tube.
I then took the internal glass tube with the other liquid (which normally breaks mixing the two inside the stick) and put it in another test tube, carefully breaking the glass and extracting the chemical.
I then cleaned up the mess (the inside of the now empty glow stick) and the fraction of a drop left in the broken glass, with a paper towel (thus mixing "A" and "B").
I then went into a dark room with my Casio Exilim Z40 set to macro (about 6cm), roughly spread out the "dirty" paper towel, and took a 2 second exposure at equiv 200 ASA (makes it grainy).
Post-processing consists solely of hitting the "balance" key in my "VuePrint" image browser, which increased contrast and brightness a bit.
It reminded me of stars - and after all Stars are "self illuminating" when photographed, as was the subject of this photograph.

You have entirely too much time on your hands! Just kidding! Great experiment! Cool outcome...

Afraid to go into the kitchen just incase the mess hasn't been completely cleaned up... and just like an old sci fi movie the BLOB rising from the counter and consumes me! Nice image, the colors are great and it really does look like a start field.

ok! :] certainly unique & creative... reminds me of breaking thermometers & pushing the mercury around with a stick

Cool experiment and image. Now, if you combined the two chemicals in a small dish, then stuck a strip of paper towel in it, you could try for glow-in-the-dark chromotography. That might be interesting.

It looks a lot like a star feild. I love the color. Be a great background for an image!
