Description
I work in the building just off to the right of this Photo. Some of us were out to dinner on North Wabash in Chicago and walking back to a class on the south side one night in August, I said "Gee, the river is pretty", so took my quite new Casio Exilim, and while it doesn't have "photographer's" controls, I did find a "Best Scene" called "fireworks" which would take a 4-second exposure.
I set the camera on the flat- (fortunately) topped bridge railing and I think set it for 2 sec time delay (to stop shaking from shutter release) and just HAPPENED to get a pretty nice picture.

Fabulous shot from a fabulous city ~ the reflection of the lights on the water is like fireworks. Wonderful image.

Very cool image. The purple reflection on the bridge is reminiscent of the Kodachrome reciprocity failure that makes blues go to a lovely purple on long exposures. Excellent composition and image!

Beautiful light reflection capture. Like the old joke goes, if they can dye it green on March 17th, why can't they dye it blue the other 364 days of the year? ;-)

I gotta say it. That's a nice border, the way it shimmers with light from the image.

I think it is an excellent image! "just HAPPENED to get a pretty nice picture." I think you knew what you were doing... nothing "just HAPPENED" about it! ;^) Nice work!

Thank you all for your comments! Most Kind! Re: the comments on the border: It is only about the 3rd border I made as I struggle with Photoshop Elements. What I did was open the image, select all, copy, then resize 100 pixels (?) all around. Then I applied a gaussian blur until it was really "fuzzed", then lightened a bit for conrast, pasted the original image back, flattened the image, and saved. I must credit dBgrafix for giving me the idea of framing with a fuzzy copy of the image. See galleryid=784406 after which you will say mine is pretty crummy :-) S/He added a simply magnificent 3D effect on top of the fuzzing.

...and I just fluked out one time messing with frames.First... This image is so well shot for a night exposure.Something I have much trouble with. Then the colours accent the frame perfectly.especially the purple tinge. Thanks for the notice and this nice credit. Flattered!
