Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

oh man...eyes widening...i can't believe these colors!!!! This is how it really looks??? shaking head in amazement! I LOVE the rich blue hues...like the sky is reflected in the snow and ice...awesome! Like Ikarius, I enjoy the rich details here. how the rock is cut in places reminds me a bit of the inside of some caves i've seen, and speaking of caves, i have a feeling there might be caves down below. am i right about this? High-5's Jan-Carel for this magnificent capture of the icy-blue slopes! Hey, you see that hippo? on the left...his head floats on top of the water...see his big dark eye wide open...i think he's curious about you! vote!

I love to see these 'extreme' conditions, which I would never normally encounter! Love the way the water has frozen as it pours over the edge! Great image and well done!

You have captured the ice, and the frost-shattered rocks, Jan-Carel. They are being slowly ground down by the seasonal erosion. I suppose this is a bit like our lives' rough edges. We are opened up slowly but surely, ( sometimes painfully ) by the action of the Water of Life, in order to display our real selves - both the good and the bad.
