Description
Since I come from the Netherlands I felt a strong urge to show Dutch Pride.. a windmill.
Wipwatermolen means 'mill sweeping in the wind'. This is because the top of the mill with the four roars is able to move into the direction te wind blows to avoid the top of breaking down.
This type of mill originates from the late medieval. In this case the mill was built in the 17th Century just for one purpose: sweeping out water out of the polder. This mill is located nearby the village of Streefkerk in the rural lands of the Alblasserwaard. Foreigners who want to see windmills always go there.. the famous Kinderdijk windmill site is not far from here.
