Description
The next day: a little aching muscles from the descent. So I decided to visit Inverness at well known Loch Ness. Perhaps I have the luck to catch a view onto Nessy the Kelpie! ;o)
Still nice and sunny weather like the whole week.
It would have been no long trip if there where highways like I'm used. But in scotland there aren't: only two lanes. So it took 3 hours to get to Inverness and that was the reason I always was in stressing situations.
Get up at 7 a.m., hurry to get somewhere, hiking up a hill in hurry, not enough time to enjoy, darkness will come, hurry down the hill. Long way to drive back, arriving the apartement mostly at 11.30 in the night, hurry with shower, eating and preparing for the next day! Bedtime at 1 or 2 in the morning.
Next day the same - and that all in my vacation! LOL
The way along Loch Ness was boring, nothing special to be seen.
Not far from Inverness you will pass Urquart Castle, from where "Nessy" often had been seen.
In the 6th Century Urquart Castle was a seat of Pictish kings. The current castle was built around the 14th Century and blown up
in the 18th.
I didn't visit, because the entrance was to expensive and there where to many tourists.
I took this shot from the upper parkingplace and so the result isn't very successful.
You and all comments are welcome always!

LOL the highland roads are not quite up to Autoban standards yet. I heard the A9 is being upgraded to a cattle track soon! Loch Ness is boring and not nearly as scenic as the west coast. Thats why the Nessie story is kept going with grim determination, theres nothing else to see here. Except of course the fine Castle at Urquart, and you need to be a lottery winner to get in!!! This is the best view of it anyway and yuor picture really does it justice.

Hey Sossy, They are good roads around Loch Ness, try the ones on the west coast near Lochcarron, the main 'A' single track road has passing places every 25 metres (if your lucky), with coachs, 60ft trailer lorries etc. Nice shot, I think taken from the castles best side. Steve

Nessie was seen here in my gallery a couple of weeks ago.perhaps you miss her? vacation is always tiring if you want to cram a lot of site seeing into a short time. your foto is excellent.terrific capture and I envy your travels there in Scotland-vote

Rita, this is just breathtaking!!!!!! ...especially the castle and the rippling water!!!! sigh and what you went through on your vacation...oh...that's just what i try to avoid on vacation. i want so much to see Europe...so many sights...but i don't want a vacation where i can't rest. I enjoy being a tourist to a certain extent...only if i get adequate rest. but i need my long walks every morning...time to just absorb the beauty around me. but at the same time, if you go somewhere, you wanna see the sights. it's hard. i just hope you had a vacation after your "vacation!" vote!

I wish you could have relaxed and enjoyed more, but I s'pose that must be a luxury one can't afford when there are time constraints and so much territory to cover and sights to see. Well, I think it's a beautiful and excellent capture, with a very interesting perspective. Love the castle!

Lovely shot. The one I took was done on a much drearier day. At that time, there was no visitor's center and we could walk around at will.
