Description

"With the shattering of the crown, the skeletal army scattered. Through field and town, thicket and forest, the Legion hunted down the undead and peace was restored to Northsea... though the shadows of Zrie's presence would remain for some while longer." Well, thats it, 12/12, the end of the planned series. This image is a bit different in style to what's gone before, but hey, what's the point of doing the same thing over and over again ;) The idea for the image came from the horror movies when, at the end, everything appears good, and then something happens, a hand comes up through the ground, or a slight breeze gives away the hint that all is not quite over. It's also an experiment with "Drawbridgep" lighting... note to self - don't use semi-transparent leaves with multiple soft shadow lights... huge render times result, though you do get some impressive control over the lighting. For those that like statistics, here is the abridged cast and credit list for the series. ------------- Cast List -------------- poser skeletons 10160 (give or take a few) dorks 346 posettes 10 poser horses 273 lo-res Poser males 1383 poser kids 3 DAZ Eagles 4 DAZ Eagles (pretending to be crows) 180 The cast would also like to thank the following fine people and establishments for their contributions to Flak's current mental state - Moebius87's Dystopian Bar and Chill Jadedjane's house of hairy gorillas and assless pants JenniSjoberg's Lollipop of Darkness The Swiss Miss House of Milo Stonemason's Frieght Company Pty. Ltd. (and thats rendered in poser!!) Wood "Lost in LOTR" hurst Andi3D, for putting the boners back into poser Honest Drac, Advanced Robotics Engineer Caleb and "The Dark Faction" Rochr, maker of fine Lighting and Tentacles Metonicus's dog Svenart's Guide to Classy Accomodation roobol, master of 5000 beers (7-4) JVRenderer, master of (semi-)nekkid chicks Major Django (recently promoted I notice) Dragonsbld and everyone in the Dragon's Lair Ang25 for numerous chats about things neither one of us will remember for a whole variety of reasons Fillingim, Lightwave Monster and everyone else I've talked to via IM or chat. And, if you've actually read this far, thanks for viewing and thanks to those who've hung around for the last 22 months to see where this went. Hope it was worth the journey. As always, comments and thoughts more than welcome.

BRAVO!!! Now this is the part where the whole audience stands up and gives this series a standing ovation for about twenty minutes. :o) It has been tremendous fun watching this entire series evolve and get released. I notice that you've kept the arrow-in-the-skeleton-gag forward and made it the final punch of the series. :o) I am very curious as to what's next, my friend? :o)

Moebius87 is right. A standing ovation is in order here. An you need to take a bow for such terrific and inspiring work! One question.. what do you define as 'huge render times'? I expect we are talking days?

Brilliant! A well executed touch to end the series. It has been a bit like watching a feature film.

marvo - it was about 180 hours or thereabouts on my pIII 450 and then another 50 on a pIV 2.2GHz. The soft shadow lighting and the semi transparent plantation leaves really was a silly thing to do, but after the first 70 hours, I had to let it go to see where it finished up at. Moe - I needed some way to nail the thing in an upright manner ;)

22 months? really that long? my word, but it's been well worth the wait, and every image in the series has been a pure delight. Thank you for a fantastic and enchanting journey my friend. Now, next project gonna be a litle smaller maybe? ;-)

Time for another series, I'd say! They've all been super. I'm surprised at the statstics, I would have guessed much higher! Only 10000 skeletons sounds small! I would need at least 50000!

This series was truly beautiful. It held honestly the best Bryce work I've ever seen in my life, and this is a strangely satisfying ending to it. The only thing I can say is 'Bravo, you deserve a cookie!' I feel quite serious in telling you that I'll remember this series of epic fantasy and magnificent artwork for the rest of my life.

Bravo! Siege was the first image I ever saw of Bryce, although it wasn't on this site (I forget exactly where.). It was honestly because of that one image I decided to look into Bryce's abilities and find out more about the program. Now I find myself at the end of the series. Flak, you have really been an inspiration, and at this point I really have only one thing to say: Thank you.
