Description

This is my first submission to the Vue gallery, and my first serious scene with this program. I've been working on and off with this image about 6 months, partly because lighting this night scene was not easy, and I'm not 100% satisfied with all the resulting shadows and reflections. I've been working with Bryce for close to 2 years, and that at least helped with all things in Vue. I wanted to try to capture a moment sometime in the mid to late 50's, in a small town like I grew up in, where going to the movies was a treat and you would likely run into a lot of people socializing while getting there. I tried to stay away from the cliche hamburger/drive-in on this one, although those might make fun scenes too. Vue 4, some post in Photo Shop, and the cars and Bijou theatre are from 3D Cafe's free models. I modeled the other buildings, water tower, parking meters, florist shop, and the streetlights. All the characters were done in Poser 4, with thanks to Jonna and GladysClump for helpful info on clothing, etc. I hope you like the image, and leave a comment if you wish.

This is sooo cool! Brick streets, just like in Ann Arbor Michigan! I dream about those bricks sometimes. Reminds me of J.Mellencamps "Cherry Bomb". I just LOVE this...I keep seeing something different everytime I look. I am putting this on my desktop. This is awesome.

You lived in a pretty clean town. I would have liked to have been around back then just for the cars. Great job, well worth the wait.

it's a very good job you made here and my first thought was that it looks like a lot of work to combine all the people, buildings and lights at their correct place. Gratulations!

Fantastic ! A lot of patience and love went into this picture and it shows ! (if I could suggest.. a little rework on the text above theater entrance to give them a 50's look. and maybe some thickness ..) Excellent in all the other points !!

Excellent Details, I have to agree with all the other comments, this is a superb image, one suggestion would be to add a little bit of blue lighting around the area of the blue neon sign, I think that would add a last little realistic touch to it, but definately there's nothing wrong with the image as it is and it's Excellent Work!
