Description

The lake Obersee (translated: upstair sea) is situated behind the lake Koenigssee (translated: king sea). The Obersee you can arrive only by ship across the Koenigssee or by a long walking-tour. The travel guide writes about the Koenigssee: Mirror, mirror on the wall, what lake is the fairest of them all? - The Koenigssee. Known the world over for its emerald green water and unique mountain landscape. ... and further ... If the Koenigssee is the pearl in this national park, then the Obersee must be the diamond. In deep tranquility at the end of the valley lies the Obersee. The mountains are reflected in its crystal-clear waters and the Roethbach waterfall plunges 400 meters from on high. The photo was taken on May 20th 2004. It was the first warm day in this year and the temperature runs up to unbeliveable 28 degree centigrade (82 degrees fahrenheit).
