Description

When tidying up on the weekend, I found the notepad I used to keep in my purse and in that notepad I found this poem written on March 16th, 2004. It was written by me at St. Mary's Hospital while I was waiting while Mom had a bone scan.
It was not long after that that we received the diagnosis that she had met. bone cancer. That day, I was hoping it was arthritis and I never thought that before the year was out that Mom would be dead...
The image is made of various crops from pics I've taken of ppl's mouths (including my own) though 2 of the mouths are not from pics I've taken. _______________________________________________________________________________
Drone
People and their half-spoken words drone about me buzzing, humming choking the air with their thoughts
I seek silence, peace and solitude within the confines of my own flesh it eludes me
Dancing just beyond my conscious mind a flitting, flickering hope silhouetted by shadows and smelling of rain
A solitary moment of peace welcomed and cherished, before the droning starts again

Waiting in hospitals ... a kind of disembodied limbo, unreal and yet at the same time starkly cruel. An excellent rendition.

"I seek silence, peace and solitude within the confines of my own flesh it eludes me" --- methinks that is what we all are seeking. You write so well. Brilliant piece. V
