Description

Another passing by, hidden behind trees, bushes and fences I had to capture it! I like all the space buildings have around in scotland and the people try hard to create idyllic and perfect parks around their homes. Thanks a lot for your visit and all given comments! ;o)

A richly coloured shot, Rita. This is nice to look at, like most of the Scottish landscapes, outside of the big towns. Unfortunately that is all most Scots can do. Many, seeing these for the first time, wonder why they live in damp, noisy, crowded flats, cheek by jowl with thousands of others. Whoever lives in that house, in those grounds, ( if they own it ) could probably buy the entire block of flats, which I live in, in the East End of Glasgow. I, like many in the urban areas, have no central heating. No double glazing. As you say there is plenty of space, outside the cities. Most, however, is not even owned by Scots, no matter how rich. The big owners resist any attempt to free up land for housing ... They hold on grimly to their land, much of which was stolen by force, or swindled by their ancestors. Big estates are often held by absentee landlords. It is very difficult for even their tenants to buy their tied cottages. Yes, it is very, very nice to look at but it is a 'beauty' that many Scots can only dream about, or admire while passing in a bus. Indeed even as a serving police officer ( at that time ) I was stopped by officers of the Northern Constabulary, when I went on an exploratory walk, from a caravan park, some tears ago. They suspected that I was up to steal from one of the big houses!! After all I was not driving a car, and did not look like a back packer either. I must be a thief. I disabused them of this idea, and soon put them right. Despite their obvious discomfiture, I insisted on continuing my stroll.

Lovely shot. The twig across the left side adds more to the belief that this is a stolen opportunity. Well done.

I totally agree with jgkane. There are many beautiful places in Scotland but owned by a handful of people who often owned these lands by dubious mean! At least it is free to walk in the hills or beaches. Nice photo.

So lush and green. Sigh. I think what jgkane refers to is fairly common throughout the world. But hey, were "artists" (ok, maybe wannabe artists), we're not supposed to have money.
