Description

Ultrafractal 3.02 Does anybody remember the scene in the movie, "Conan the Barbarian" where the evil charismatic leader of a powerful snake worship cult named Thulsa Doom (played by James Earl Jones) is presiding over demonic rituals and debauchery in his fortress and, as the sultry music plays, he morphs into a giant snake while his captive, Conan's girlfriend Sonia (Sandahl Bergman) lies unconscious at the foot of his throne? I thought that was WAY cool when that movie came out. I was playing with 3d Cylinder mapping (aho.uxf) with the QuatJulia+ formula (gnd.ufm) and Sierpinski Trap coloring (mt.ucl) and Arnold Schwarzenegger's old nemesis Thulsa Doom, morphed into the snake, jumped right out of the end of the cylinder I was playing with! :?) 94 layers - mostly shading, masks and all done within a mapped cylinder. Thanks for stopping by and for your wonderful comments on my last one, Chip 'n Dale" - you have no idea how much I appreciate you all! - Rick

Hey, this is scary! I remember Thulsa Doom, but this reminds me more of an evil mummy! Well done, Rick, even if I'll be having nightmares tonight :)

Well, i will have to watch that again - this is a beautiful totem image!! your very controlled use of colour (unlike me) is very powerful - the red and turquoise are powerful because they are surrounded by muted earthy tones - excellent work

Way, way cool! You told me just how you did it, and I STILL don't have a clue..lol! With me, they create themselves, and some days are diamonds, some days are stones. Today is a diamond for you, Rykk.

Unbelievable depth and colors - 97 layers with mapping is killer! I love this dude's expression (it must not smell too great in the old tomb), and his jools are to die for! It's a fab Rykk creature feature! P.S. The face in the sphere at the top ain't too shabby, neither!

Most creepy and cool image. I love James Earl Jones and that wacky movie. This is very moody and creepy, but splended to say the least.

I loved that show, and I vaguely remember that scene you're talking about. As for the monitor thing, I found out that my monitor was too dark, and that is why you told me once that you could see the cuts on one of my pics, but I couldn't. Since then I have lightened my monitor. This looks very nice to me. I do see the shadowing. You do such excellent work! V (:

Whoa! This is real different and just plain AWEsome, Rick! I don't recall watching that film. Has a real "mummy" vibe. :~) Exciting composition and textures, and the color mix with the greyscale is rich and beautiful. The detail is amazing and the lighting effective..no washed-out areas on my screen. Outstanding work!
