Description

Digital Morning position 2 The room and all the objects were made at a real scale. I worked on this scene from december 2003 until late june 2004. This image took 8 days, 8 hours, 49 minutes and 59 seconds to render. I used radiosity, caustics (for the globe on the desk) and SSS (for the courtains). Special thanks to Shademaster and Cinemike for suggestions and critiques during the creative process. Be sure to also check out the second render. Making of Digital Morning I recommend you to view the "Making of Digital Morning" page which shows all the images I saved during the creative process.

Totally groovy render! =) You did an outstanding job on the materials in this scene. Especially the green transparent material on the tower. And the led's are amazing as well, as is almost everything. The only point of critique I could come up with is about an area of the desk in the lower left of the picture (below the modem and speaker). The shadow looks a little harsh in comparison with the other shadows in the scene and maybe a missing UVW map on the front part of the same piece of wood? It just seams odd. But maybe that's just me. :-P Anyways, great image and a vote! :-) ~Chris

Great render... Great modeling and texturing... but... I think the SSS and the caustics are an unnecessary render-killer here. The caustics add little or nothing to the scene. The SSS is one way to approach making the drapes look this way. I'm sure with some tests you could come up with a solution that looks just as good that won't take as much render time. You could probably tweak the Radiosity settings to get a faster render time with the same quality as well. Good job!

hey, excelent picture, the leds are cool the lightning perfect, but I never rendert szenes longer as 1-2 hours!!! you can render this picture is the same speed without less quality, when you make tests... but nice work!

I love the details on the models. 8 days though? As others have said, I'd have a ago at changing some of the settings to get similar results in less time.

Thank you all for the great comments and support. Nobody paid me to do this image. I just remade my real computer - all you see it's identical now with the real thing. The brand names... well that's what they are... The Mouse is a "No Name" one, the mouse pad is a ROBO Design football player shape. As you see... some of them are fake.I'm not a very good radiosity optimiser... for the next image... my challenge is: reduce render times! :)
