If only I could travel back through the past.
one could would marvel at the wonderous cast.
To a time when we where free,
when only the buffalo was made to flee.
Look my brothers, out across the plains,
there are no fences to cross or cause one pain.
I can go to the sacred mountains to pray,
without tourists who gawk and bar the way.
The sky is so clear and the air is pure,
no factories or cars to pollute and obscure.
Oh to stay in this wonderous place,
but alas, it is the present I must return to and face.

To go back and see the world as it used to be, has been a dream for me to do. There would be so much to see. So many wonders to behold. A calming rhyme of a wonderful time. Excellent.

Beautiful words. I feel your longing for wide open spaces and simpler times.

the juxtaposition of the poem and publishing it on the internet makes me smile.

To walk with our Ancestors and to be free to practice our beliefs without being called savages and witches. :) They were so afraid of The Ghost Dance and our ways that they had to slaughter....we prevail! In their ignorance and fear they tried to destroy....Spirit is never destroyed! Excellent words V
