Description

Icicles of frozen water pouring out of the rocks tell me we're gonna have some cold days here in the Vosges. Strange to notice the water is liquid until it reaches open air. It must be a little bit warmer behind those rocks. Or would there be another explanation? Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Wonderful icy image! Yes, that is strange, I think more of the water is exposed to the cold when it hits the air so it ices up. Very pretty, you won't see THAT in south Florida! :)

I am so thrilled to see this, I was hoping you might have an icicle capture to upload! I love to see icicles and the really thick frozen runs of water, it reminds me of a trip up the mountain from Denver to Vail! Have a great Christmas and New Year!

Now you got me going? Also, why would a lake freeze only at the top and not at the bottom? Maybe its the density of the water at different levels. An interesting picture and question you have. Let us know the answer. Aloha

Brrr...that's cold! (lol) Let me tell you a true story that happened to me on one winter hike in the Smoky Mountains. There is this place that has a huge overhang. I look up and see these giant icicles hanging down. As I am looking I see this huge one break off and come right down toward us. I yell for everyone to stop, and the icicle crashes a few feet in front of the group! I thanked God that he warned me in time to warn the others...people I didn't know...Humbling experience of the power of God in our lives...
