Description

::: Part 35 of a series of Warbird Photos ::: Taken at the MCAS Miramar (San Diego, California) Airshow 2004 in October. I've been meaning to put up this image for some time. It was a luck shot really. Anyone who's been to an airfield knows that airshows later in the day turn out to have the bad and good photo skies. On the side of the sky where the sun is... you get horrible blown out photos or just sillouettes. On the other side of the sky you get gorgeous perfect color with blue sky background images. In between it's hit and miss. Well, this was a hit. I just put my 100-400mm lens to 400mm... pointed up and hoped for the best. I got a lot closer than I realized I would be getting. These gorgeous jets are the United States Navy Blue Angel Demonstration Team. You're seeing a close up of the diamond formation of numbers 1-4 Boeing F/A-18 Hornets (of 6 planes). They are about 36 inches or less apart in this photo flying in a diamond shape formation. I was rather surprised when I saw how well the exposure, color, clearness, detail, and closeness of the photo came out! A definate 'extreme' close-up. Camera is a Canon Rebel EOS 300D DSLR (6mp) with a Canon 100-400mm IS USM lens. Image was reduced in size.

An amazing shot. Looks like a space invasion! Superb colours and composition. I don't think that was luck!

Awesome shot. Full zoom, exposure's good, and no blur. Must be using some rather quick film. (Or if it's digital, sensitivity's much better than what I've seen before.) Thumbs up!
