Description

Thank You All For All of Your "Way Kind" Comments on My Previous Picture, "Looking Up". The request was made for more history on the bridge. It is the old Jamestown Bridge and Rhode Island USA. It was built in 1940 for $3 million to replace the ferry system that ran from the late 17th century. It is 6892 ft. long and 135 ft. above the water. In 1969, the last toll was collected when the bridge was paid for and it has not been used since 1992 when a new bridge was built just to the north. The bridge is scheduled to be demolished and the debris will be used as a marine habitat nearby.
