Description

The Cornish Pump was an enormous steam powered machine, originally used to remove water from the tin mines in Cornwall England. Produced from the mid to late 1800's, it was capable of pumping around 3,400 gallons per minute. The flywheel could reach a diameter of forty feet or more. Although the surroundings are more modern, I kept the actual pump true to its original form as best as I could tell from my available references. Bryce 5, Photoshop 6.

Thank you all!! I've been working on this off and on for almost a year now. I would guess it took around 60-80 hrs including creating or finding textures etc. It really started out as a factory but when I went to look for equipment photos for inspiration I saw the pump and had to make it. The rendering took 15 hrs. at normal. It was very hard to manage and there are a few goofs in it. The lighting isn't exactly what I wanted and Ill probably remake this in a new building closer to the historic pump house.

Great looking render there! I like the copper pipework... As far as the surroundings being more modern - didn't some mines still run these things until the 1940's?

I've just stared at this without blinking for a minute. This is one of the best pieces of CG I've ever seen, in any platform, of any software. Ok, I like (not sure I got that across). VOTE!
