Description

The Cornish Pump was an enormous steam powered machine, originally used to remove water from the tin mines in Cornwall England. Produced from the mid to late 1800's, it was capable of pumping around 3,400 gallons per minute. The flywheel could reach a diameter of forty feet or more. Although the surroundings are more modern, I kept the actual pump true to its original form as best as I could tell from my available references. Bryce 5, Photoshop 6.

This is a great image. I love the pump, the lights and the surroundings all around. If there had been a pump like this built at the Matchless in Leadville, Colorado, USA, they may not have had to close that one down. It makes me wonder about the cost of such a monster. THanks for sharing this historical piece. Good job.

WOAH!!!!!! Staggering! I love this! I'm a sucker for engineering on this scale. I wanted to do a marine engine but I couldn't get the reference shots. This is the kind of thing I had in mind. Brilliant!!!! Well done! I'm so impressed.
