Description

The height point of Mauna Loa stands 13,680 feet above sea level Mauna Loa Observatories monitors and collect data relating to atmospheric changes. Today, it became cloudy, rainy and windy that made it almost impossible to take pictures. But I did get a few pictures. This is one of several small building located on Mauna Loa. The air is thin up here. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

What a perfect place to view the heavens on a clear cloudless night. Promise yourself that you will return under more ideal conditions. But don't fret, you live in paradise already and your photos attest to it.

Man, I never did make it up there. Maybe on my next trip...thought the beaches and volcanoes get first priority. :) I know about the air being thin too, I got altitude sickness when I was running around on top of Maui's Haleakela. Great shot, love the shiney, space age outpost look!

This is probably more impressive cloudy than sunny. This almost totally grey landscape and bleached out sky has a certain unearthy feel. I like it.
