Description
I was commissioned by a hockey goalie to create some artwork that will be painted on his mask. He had a fairly specific request. He wanted two girls, one for each side of his mask. One is a "snow bunny" type image. Since he's Swedish, I wanted to give her a kind of "Swedish Bikini Team" look. When it's finished and ready to be copied onto the helmet, there will be the Swedish flag behind her.
What do you all think about the pose here? Does it work? I've already decided to change the expression a bit, though one of the things that he liked about my artwork was the smirking girls.
The other request was for a sexy cowgirl.. I'll be working on that one later.

Oh what a hoot! Too cool that you got such a fun comission. You know what might help with the pose and composition would be to view it at the actual size it will be printed, and against the flag. Will the figure take up the space within the borders of the flag, or will she overlap it? What are the other colors on the mask? Right now you've got a pale figure on a pale background, so it's difficult for me to visualize it. In designing something like this, IMO, you want a pose and composition that will also make a good silouette so that it can still be made out at a mid distance. Viewing it at actual size from acrosss the room would give you a good idea of that. I love the tinsel...and I love your smirky girls too ::^_^::

I've painted a few goalie helmets, you have to allow for the vent holes and straps. A full standing pose will either have to be very small, or a lot of details will be lost. Find a nice line drawing to work out your composition against the structure of the helmet.
